Over the Years_ 1970 Galaxie 500

The car was bought in January 1988, after seeing it parked outside the 88 Summernats in the carpark.
The 2 photos below show the Galaxie where I inspected it a few days later in Sydney.

After shipping it back to Perth, the first thing to do was fit the 8" Cheviot Armourlites and BF Goodrich TA's. Next, had the car lowered. The Galaxie stayed like this for about 2 years.

It still looked much like a wedding car to me, so the next major change was to paint it in Matte Black for the trip once again to Canberra for Summernats 4. The main aim of this was to give it a tougher look and use it as a mobile blackboard at the Summernats.

We traveled also to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and had a great time at the Summernats, but had no chance amongst the top show cars there. We only go there to cruise around and have a good time.
The photos below were taken during the trip over.....um......er.....one of the photos shows me when I had more hair on my head. One day I'll have to go back to find it!

About 2 years later a change was needed, so the paint was rubbed back once again and repainted in Matte Black with the nose of the car done in gloss black scallops.

It looked pretty good although we could have done a better job on the gloss black.

2 years or so later, the guy who painted my GT (JC Custom Paint) approached me and offered to give the Galaxie another once over. This time the front would get a beautiful Wild Violet scalloped front and the rear done in, yes you guessed it, Matte Black! The front alone took a few weeks of work nearly every night to get it straight as an arrow. My favorite colour? Matte Black of course!

November 2002, it was due for yet another coat of paint because some of the earlier rust repairs began to reappear.
I decided the existing paint scheme was to stay, so the purple front end remained, while the back was repaired and repainted in matt black again.
