SuperCar Magazine _ Readers Cars
I drove to the 7th Street Machine Nationals in Canberra at Easter 1986. After the 3000 or so miles to get there, while cleaning the car, the crew from Street Machine Magazine approached us, and said thay wanted to do a shoot for a feature article in a future issue. So, the whole day we spent detailing the GT to perfection and waiting for the Street Machine crew to return. And we waited........and waited. They didn't return.

Later, I got talking to the guys from Supercar magazine, and they were also interested in doing a feature for an upcoming issue. They were a small operation, and they suggested I send in an article to them, with a bunch of photos.

Meanwhile, at the Show n Shine on the Saturday, my GT was chosen to represent the Top 60, and I was summoned to the Judging Pavillion, where it was kept overnight while the judges did their job. It was while we were cleaning the car here, that the Editor of Street Machine approached us, and appologised for not returning to do the photo shoot, and handed over his business card! .... Big deal!

On arrival back to Perth about 4 weeks later, and with no photo shoot done, it was decided that I write my own article, and shoot off a roll of film, and send it off to Supercar magazine. I just had to wait now, and see when my full feature would appear.

Meanwhile, the Street Machine crew came to Perth to check out the local scene in Perth, and approached me while displaying my car at the first Motorvation show held in Fremantle. They promised once again to do a feature article, and once again failed, as shown in "Fame 1".

So, back to the Supercar feature. It was sent to them just after Easter 1986, and the result was this rather pathetic article in the Dec 1988-Jan 1989 issue in "Readers Rides", some 2 1/2 years later! A whole life story practically, and a roll of 24 photos, reduced down to one paragraph with 2 photos! How kind of them!

Danny V has been interested in 351 Falcons since his High School days, so it's only natural that his XA GT became his project car. A trip to the Street Machine Nationals when Danny was half way through the rebuild encouraged him to go all the way with the Falcon. Many new parts went into the XA which now features Monza Red paintwork, dual fuel fill ers and an alloy Torino shaker scoop. Under the bonnet is a completly reworked 351 Cleveland fed by a 700 Holley double pumper on a Torker manifold. Gearbox is a Toploader which transfers the power to a 3.00 to 1 9inch rear end. Suspension has been lowered and fitted with heavy duty springs, Pedders stabilizer bars and Gabriel shockers. Wheels are 14 x 8 and 14 x 7 Dragways. Danny is a founding member of the Falcon GT club of WA, so it is safe to assume that there will always be a GT in his garage.
